Scripture-Based Response Guide on Marriage, Celibacy, and LGBTQ+ Inclusion

God’s design for human flourishing is broader than traditional marriage. Some are called to celibacy, honored for their devotion, while others are called to covenantal love outside male/female norms. Just as eunuchs were blessed and included by God despite societal exclusion (Isaiah 56:3-5), faithful LGBTQ+ relationships reflect God’s purposes for love and relational flourishing. Spiritual vocation is measured by faithfulness and commitment, not conformity to tradition or social expectations.

Key Scriptures

  1. Matthew 19:11-12 – “Not everyone can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth… and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.”
    • Principle: God honors diverse vocations — marriage, celibacy, and kingdom-focused singleness.
  2. Isaiah 56:3-5 – “Let not the eunuch say, ‘Behold, I am a dry tree.’ For thus says the Lord… I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.”
    • Principle: God includes those marginalized or excluded by society, offering full blessing and honor.
  3. Galatians 3:28 – “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
    • Principle: Inclusion and equality in God’s covenant transcend societal distinctions.

Foundational Principles

  • Faithfulness & Love: God values commitment and covenantal love above conformity to social norms.
  • Diversity of Callings: Marriage, celibacy, and nontraditional relational vocations are all valid paths to God’s blessing.
  • Inclusion Over Exclusion: Those historically marginalized (eunuchs, foreigners, LGBTQ+ individuals) are fully honored in God’s kingdom.
  • Civil vs. Religious Marriage: Legal recognition of marriage protects families and affirms love without conflicting with personal faith.
