There was a time when faith felt narrow.
Questions were risky.
Doubt was suspect.
Certainty was rewarded.
But over time, I began to see something different in Scripture — and in life.
Faith is not a cage.
It is an invitation.
Freedom and Renewal
In Romans 12:2, we are invited to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Renewal suggests movement. Growth. Change. Becoming.
And Hebrews 12 speaks of laying aside what entangles us so that we may run with perseverance the race set before us.
Sometimes what entangles us is not sin, but fear.
Fear of asking.
Fear of thinking.
Fear of disappointing others.
Fear of becoming.
Freedom to explore is not rebellion.
It is maturity.
Spiritual Friendship
This porch is built on the belief that spiritual growth happens best in conversation, not control.
I believe in spiritual friendship — walking alongside one another without demanding uniformity.
We may not agree on every detail.
But we can listen.
We can learn.
We can grow.
Story, Song, and Becoming
There is a line in a song that has stayed with me for years — “Freedom! I won’t let you down.”
Freedom is not the absence of faith.
It is the space where faith deepens.
Love can build a bridge.
Curiosity can open a door.
Genealogy can restore a name.
Education can widen a lens.
Journey can refine belief.
This page is permission.
Permission to ask.
Permission to study.
Permission to wrestle.
Permission to rethink.
Permission to remain.
Permission to change.
The Porch Vision
Sweet Tea & Front Porch Reflections is not built on fear.
It is built on:
Grace.
Thoughtfulness.
Patience.
Honesty.
You are free here to explore Scripture.
To explore your story.
To explore your doubts.
To explore your hopes.
And to trust that God is not threatened by your questions.
Freedom to explore is not about losing faith.
It is about finding it again — deeper, steadier, and more your own.
Freedom to explore is also the freedom to become who we were created to be — not merely who others, society, or even religious tradition have dictated we should be.
True faith does not erase our individuality.
It refines it.
It does not silence our story.
It redeems it.
Sit awhile.
There is room here to grow.
